Together with the unit’s search specialists, they searched for survivors in a cordoned off area and used their sense of smell to find those buried in the collapsed buildings.
However, the SCDF confirmed that it is aware of the risks it may face while on duty and that measures are being taken to ensure its safety, such as: E.g., living in air-conditioned cargo, walking, maintaining hygiene and eating a balanced diet.
If you need medical attention, two doctors are also available to provide basic dog care.
National Rescue Dog Day
Sisters Francis and Rizzo were deployed on Sunday to search for salvageable sites. See them in action below.
20 officers from the Singapore Emergency Response Team helped rescue the child trapped in the rubble, while another 48-member team, including search and rescue teams and doctors, set out to rescue the man who was trapped under a large The concrete slab of a two-story building was trapped.
In addition to the help on the ground, good Singaporeans at home also contributed by donating essential items to the Turkish Embassy in Singapore. They had to stop the donation because the money was too much. Rescue workers who were busy searching for the dead buried in the landslide in the Genting Highlands area on December 16 were said to be tired after three days of work on Sunday.
But it wasn’t just humanity that reached its limits during search, rescue and rescue operations under catastrophic conditions.

The K-9 dog detection unit is alerted along with human assistants to search for people in thick mud, slush or rain.
“After two days beyond the allotted time, they [identified dogs] need to rest and recover even if they are uninjured,” Norazam said.
“That’s why we rotate them in this phase, starting with three (dogs) first, then we use the rest.”
Norazam said 11 sniffer dogs were on standby at the site so far to assist in the search.

From the best animal shelters to adopting a puppy (including dog adoption fees) to rehabilitating rescue dogs, here’s everything you need to know about adopting dogs in Singapore.
If you’re thinking about adopting a dog in Singapore, we’ve put together a complete guide to the best shelters, things to consider, and how to prepare your home for a new dog. Research shows that simply caring for a dog leads to a healthier heart, improved mental well-being and a longer life. When you’re thinking about getting a new pet, you might be thinking about a specific breed of dog – Golden Retriever, Poodle or Corgi? However, you need to think about what’s right for your family – whether you need to toilet train an energy-challenged puppy, a “Singapore Special” mixed breed dog, or an old hunting dog or retired police dog that you can take home with you .
Knowing where to get your new pet can be a little tricky! If you want to avoid buying a puppy from a pet store, we have put together a guide to dog adoption in Singapore and a list of animal shelters to help you find the permanent home of your dream puppy.

! Not only are you saving the life of a rescued dog or homeless puppy, you are also helping to end pet overpopulation by giving a previously lost or abandoned pet a second chance.
In general, if you are buying a puppy, be sure to check where it comes from as you want to avoid irresponsible puppy mills (and unfortunately many dogs sold in Singapore come from puppy mills). On these commercial, high-volume puppy farms, the dogs are crammed together, often starving constantly between litters, and are not provided with adequate health care, food, water, or socialization. If you want to adopt a dog in Singapore, the best place to start is with one of the active and reputable animal rescue groups in Singapore. Most of these long-standing groups are interested in working with strays and “Singapore specialists” (i.e. street dogs and mixed breed dogs) and are highly experienced in finding you a suitable dog. . If you are looking for a specific breed of dog or would like more information about which type of dog is right for your family, read this.
Before adopting a pet, keep in mind that most groups have a process that includes: a pre-adoption evaluation, a residential placement trial, adoption fees (usually to cover the cost of microchips, vaccinations, sterilization, and management) and follow-up examinations. These procedures ensure that both Fido and his new family develop good, responsible habits that will help the dog adjust easily to his new environment and family.
Ricky Yeo was one of the tireless pioneers of animal welfare groups in Singapore and started Action For Singapore Dogs (ASD) in 2000 to rescue, rehome and sterilize stray and abandoned dogs. Their adoption and rescue center is not a shelter, but rather a kennel for dogs awaiting adoption – instead of a kennel, there are spacious bedrooms where the happy pups can play, socialize and exercise. A clever filter on their website helps you identify the dog traits you want in your new pet (e.g. good with kids). ASD regularly runs Basic Obedience Foundation courses to teach dog owners effective communication techniques.

Fake Singapore? Co-founder of Cathy Strong’s tireless dream of feeding and neutering stray cats and dogs since she founded the Animal Lovers League (ALL) in 2002. In 2004, inspired by the stray animal outbreak caused by SARS, she founded Pet Villa, a no-kill animal shelter that now cares for more than 500 animals at full capacity. Dedicated volunteers clean, bathe, feed and walk the dogs and also feed and clean the regular walkers. Find your perfect dog here or volunteer regularly to give some love to some well-deserving adult and senior dogs (puppies are adopted faster!).
They charge a fee to adopt dogs, but have a thorough adoption process (including a two-week home stay) to ensure pets are family-friendly.
Exclusively Mongrels Limited is a non-profit organization that aims to raise awareness of the plight of Singaporean Poodles and support them by rescuing and rehabilitating dogs from shelters for adoption in Singapore. EM is an independent organization that relies solely on donations to maintain its operations. Singaporean specialists supported by EM receive their meals and treatments through the organization. They also have a few categories for dog adoption including HDB approved dogs, non HDB approved dogs and puppies. Keep an eye out for special events like Singapore Special Day on EM’s Facebook page.
